MARIA ROSUA

My name is Maria Rosúa, I was born in Rosario, Argentina, in a family of women artists and entrepreneurs, they taught me art from the game and observing them I learned that inside me I had all the tools available to be able to create and be independent. From a young age, materials, colors, shapes and making were part of everyday life. At the age of 18 I began to travel the world, on those trips I discovered metal and crafts, and from that moment jewelry became one of the purposes of my life. I studied with artisans, who taught me techniques and opened the door to the world of creation. This led me to study Industrial Design, where I acquired tools and gave meaning to my production. I had the opportunity to get to know the world thanks to my job, studying and working in countries like Argentina, Spain, the United States, Colombia, India, places that inspire my collections and fill them with experiences and feelings. In 2015 I arrived in Barcelona thanks to a scholarship that my university awarded me at Escola Massana. Two years later I moved to Formentera, the smallest of the Balearic Islands, where today I live with my family and have my workshop.

 

Over the years the game in the workshop allowed me to create and express myself. In each stage and moment of my life I find different materials with which I design, from metal as a combined base, with wood, 3D printing, patinas, paint, recycled plastics.

I seek that my pieces show the contact with matter, the imperfection that human beings give us, each jewel takes time and dedication, they carry energy and tell stories.

I believe that the production of crafts is a posture before a complex world, that is why I look for a conscious design, that tells the moment we live, through form or materiality.

 

In recent years I have dedicated myself to finding a way to give color to metal, from experimentation, trial and error, courses and workshops that I have been taking I found several techniques that allow me to fill my metal jewelry with color, life and sensations, I try with color to make the material warm, to transmit experiences, values, memories, the use of patinas, oxidations, pigments, watercolors, enamels, they end up returning to my metal designs, small illustrations to decorate our bodies.
